👋 Hello, community! The latest newsletter with details about the upcoming release is out now. beorg.substack.com/p/beorg-new.

This morning's random work, suggested by getclassical.app, is Mozart's String Quartet no.19 in C major K.465. I've opted for a recording by the Belcea Quartet.

I've just been answering a beorg question on whether it's possible to insert the current day of the year via a template macro.

The answer is yes - but it's not straightforward. My answer combined both Scheme and JavaScript - see appsonthemove.freshdesk.com/su if you'd like to see how I did this.

beorg provides users several ways to support continued development - annual/monthly subscriptions, tips and purchasing extensions (for those who don’t like subscriptions for apps.)

Based on the trends reports in App Store Connect, here is a list of extensions ordered by sales:

- Templates
- Saved Searches
- Timers
- Properties
- Encryption
- Export themes
- UI themes
- Notification sounds
- Box sync

If you haven’t checked out the notification sounds IMHO they are pretty fun… 😉

I’ve just submitted an update to Go Calc, an app I first released in 2008 when the App Store was an infant. I probably would have discontinued this years ago if I were a more astute business person. However, it still brings in some revenue and is very stable with a minimal support burden.

On the back of some beorg support tickets/forum posts, I’ve been working on the following this afternoon:

- Fixing calendar sync, so it doesn’t create multiple events for items with dates spanning more than one day
- The default grouping and sort order on the Tasks tab is now taken from todo-default-filter (which you can customise in your init.org file)
- Items will default to having an implicit priority of B when sorting happens (override with org-priority-default)

Q2: Can I customize my workflow?
A: Yes! Setup custom todo and done states

Unlike some task managers who only really understand todo and done, beorg allows you to set up your own states.

Thanks to a super-quick review from Apple, beorg 3.20.1 is now on the App Store. This fixes the issue with Clear Search on the Agenda tab.

There's a bug in beorg 3.20.0 with clearing the agenda saved search. I've just pushed a fix to Apple and an update should be available early next week. Thanks to the user who reported this to me!

For users of #emacs #orgmode how do you interact with your notes on mobile?

1) Do you keep your notes synchronized to your mobile device? If so, what syncing services do you use?

2) What apps do you use to read and/or edit .org files?

Boosts highly appreciated!

I've fired up getclassical.app this morning for some serendipitous listening 🎧.

1. Tap the shuffle button.
2. Choose from one of four suggested works of .
3. Pick a recording.
4. Start playback!

Classical works with to give you an interface into works from hundreds of classical composers, from Adams to Webern.

beorg 3.20.0 has just been released.

A new button on the agenda bottom bar to select saved searches. In my example, I've got saved searches to:

- Items from my .org files - with no reminders or calendar
- Just reminders and calendar
- What I've completed each day

Agenda saved searches are separate from those on the Tasks tab. The last selected search is also remembered when you restart beorg.

(You'll need the saved searches extension to use this new feature)

Q1: Why use beorg as my task manager
A: Your tasks are kept in plain text files

This is great because you can open plain text files easily without specialist software. You'll be able to look at them in 5, 10, and 20+ years even if you no longer have the app you created them in!

I've just submitted beorg 3.20.0 to Apple for review. This update will allow you to select saved searches on the Agenda tab easily - and beorg will remember the saved search when restarted.

I'm using my app Classical for Schumann’s Violin Sonata no. 1. The app allows you to search/browse for a work, select a recording and play just the work you want to listen to rather than the whole album. getclassical.app

I've created a saved search and template to track online purchases. The template adds new purchases to purchases.org using a year/month hierarchy and an IN-PROGRESS state. The saved search then shows all the purchases I'm waiting on, and I can set them to DONE once received. I can check the file directly to check I've not been buying things unnecessarily.

Did you know you can attach a location to a task/item in ?

1. Tap the 'more' button at the bottom of the item editor
2. Choose 'Assign current location'

To view a map showing the location tap the property editor button, and then the arrow next to the location longitude/latitude.

On the desktop in the location will be available in in the item property drawer.

Add actions to the 'more' button menu in your Scheme init.org for other properties you frequently use.

Hello 👋 - this is a brief to Apps On The Move on Mastodon! I've been on Mastodon for a short while at @mken - time now to move over my indie apps.

The main indie app I'm focused on is , a task manager that works with plain text files. You can store and sync the files from iCloud, Dropbox or WebDAV - and they use an Org mode compatible syntax for use with Emacs.

I've got a few other apps as well - was first released in 2008, back when the was new.
